Physician Assistant - Neurosurgery Locum Tenens Opportunity Near Tampa, FL


We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Neurosurgery for a locum tenens position near Tampa, FL. This opportunity is available ASAP and will continue on an ongoing basis, providing you with the chance to work in a dynamic and supportive environment.


Position Overview:



  • Start Date: ASAP - Ongoing

  • Call Responsibilities: Shared among PAs, with 1-2 PAs on call Monday-Thursday and a 1:4 weekend call rotation with a physician.

  • Holidays Allowed: New Year's Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day

  • Patients Per Shift: 10

  • Beds in Department: 16

  • Rounding: Both inpatient and outpatient rounding required.

  • EMR System: Cerner

  • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes

  • Temporary Privileges Available: Yes

  • Stroke Certification: Yes


Practice Details:



  • Work Setting: This role involves a balanced mix of 50% inpatient rounding and OR duties, and 50% outpatient clinic responsibilities. You will be working with a well-established neurosurgery practice that includes four neurosurgeons and four advanced practice providers, focusing exclusively on adult patients.

  • Facility Overview: The facility is a 600+ bed institution with a comprehensive certified stroke center. While it is not a trauma center, the neurosurgery team plays a critical role in providing high-quality care to patients with neurological conditions.


Requirements:



  • Licensing: Active Florida license or eligibility through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC).

  • Certifications:

    • ACLS - Required

    • BLS - Required



  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience as an advanced practice provider in Neurosurgery is required.

  • Board Certification: Current board certification is mandatory.

  • Credentialing Timeframe: Estimated 0 - 120 days.
