Locum Tenens Opportunity: Internal Medicine - Hematology and Oncology Physician Near Bear Creek, WI


We are seeking a dedicated Internal Medicine Physician specializing in Hematology and Oncology for a locum tenens position near Bear Creek, WI. This role offers a chance to contribute to both outpatient and inpatient care with a combination of scheduled clinical hours and on-call responsibilities. The position is ideal for a board-certified physician who can start ASAP and is looking for a long-term opportunity.


Position Overview:

  • Practice Setting: Outpatient and Inpatient


Key Responsibilities:




  • Clinical Hours:



    • Work Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM.

    • Provide care in both outpatient and inpatient settings, including outreach to a secondary location two days a week. The exact schedule will be determined based on availability and needs.




  • Call Coverage:



    • The role includes call coverage for two weeks per month, with call shared among others in the system. Call is handled one week at a time, ensuring manageable and predictable on-call duties.




  • Clinical Requirements:



    • Board certification in Internal Medicine with a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology is required.

    • An active Wisconsin (WI) medical license is necessary. Certifications in ACLS and ATLS are required, while ABLS, BLS, and PALS are not.

    • Experience with the Cerner EMR system is preferred.




  • Procedures and Equipment:



    • Perform bone marrow biopsies and administer intrathecal chemotherapy.

    • Utilize equipment such as Intellidose TxM for treatment and management.




  • Practice Details:



    • The position involves solo practice with support from three Nurse Practitioners (NPs) in the department.

    • Radiation oncology services are available on-site.

    • Temporary privileges are available if needed, with an estimated credentialing timeframe of approximately 60 days, provided there are no issues with the credentialing file.

  • Location:



    • The position is based near Bear Creek, WI, with outreach responsibilities to Stevens Point, WI, two days a week. Local candidates are preferred, but accommodations can be discussed for those traveling from further away.
