Locum Tenens Opportunity: General Medicine Physician Near Columbia, MO
We are currently seeking General Medicine Physicians for a locum tenens opportunity near Columbia, MO. This position involves performing Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans. The need is ongoing on a PRN basis, offering flexibility to fit your schedule. Position Overview:
- Position Type: Locum Tenens
- Specialty: General Medicine (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or similar)
- Start Date: ASAP
- End Date: Ongoing
- Shift Type: Day shifts with flexible scheduling options
Responsibilities:
- Veteran Examinations:
- Conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans.
- Exams are primarily interview-based with some physical assessments, including range of motion and muscle strength testing.
- No treatment or prescribing required.
- Flexible Work Options:
- Travel to a VES-leased facility to perform exams.
- Schedule Veterans within your own practice.
- Option to work half days (4 hours) or full days (8 hours) based on your availability.
- Non-Treatment Role:
- One-time assessments with no long-term follow-up or clinical care.
Requirements:
- Board Certified/Eligible: Accepting candidates from Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or other related specialties.
- Licensure: Must hold an active, unrestricted license to practice in the state of Missouri.
- Experience: Candidates should be familiar with musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and respiratory conditions, and be proficient in METs testing.
- Certification: Must obtain Disability Medical Assessment (DMA) certification if not already certified. This certification will provide CME credits, but the cost for certification and portal training is not reimbursed.
- Equipment: Must have a personal laptop (no Mac/Apple products) and be proficient in using a goniometer for physical assessments.
Additional Skills:
- Comfortable working with Veteran populations and completing non-treatment medical assessments.
- Proficient in evaluating respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions.
- Able to work weekends, if needed.
