Locum Tenens Opportunity: General Medicine Physician Near Great Falls, MT


We are seeking experienced General Medicine Physicians for a locum tenens opportunity near Great Falls, MT. This role involves providing essential services to Veterans through Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments. If you are passionate about working with Veterans and offering non-treatment medical evaluations, this could be the perfect fit for you.


Position Overview:



  • Position Type: Locum Tenens

  • Specialty: General Medicine (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or similar)

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • End Date: Ongoing

  • Shift Type: Days, with flexible scheduling options (half or full days)


Responsibilities:



  • Veteran Exams:

    • Conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans.

    • Exams are primarily interview-based with some physical assessments (, range of motion, muscle strength).

    • No prescribing or treatment required.



  • Coverage Options:

    • Travel to a VES-leased facility to perform exams.

    • Schedule Veterans within your own practice, offering flexibility in your workday.



  • Flexible Work Hours:

    • Half days (4 hours) or full days (8 hours) are available based on your availability.




Requirements:



  • Board Certified/Eligible: In Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or related specialties.

  • Licensure: Must hold or be eligible for a Montana state medical license.

  • Experience: Familiarity with musculoskeletal, diabetes, cardiovascular, and respiratory conditions.

    • Proficiency in METs testing and diagnosing respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions.

    • Experience with non-treatment exams and Veteran Compensation and Pension assessments is a plus.



  • Certification: Will need to obtain Disability Medical Assessment (DMA) certification if not already certified (CME credits available). Please note that DMA certification and portal training costs are not reimbursed.

  • Equipment: Must have your own personal laptop (Windows OS, no Macs) and be proficient in using a goniometer for physical assessments.
