Seeking a Qualified and Experienced Trauma Surgeon


Are you a dedicated and highly skilled Trauma Surgeon passionate about providing critical care in emergency situations? We're searching for a qualified physician to join our team in a growing community near Afton, IA. This locum tenens opportunity offers 12-hour in-house call coverage, starting as soon as possible (ASAP).


Responsibilities:



  • Provide on-call trauma surgical coverage, responding to a variety of trauma cases and emergencies.

  • Perform a range of trauma-related surgical procedures as needed.

  • Collaborate with emergency department staff, hospitalists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within the Hospital (Cerner) and Clinic (AllScripts) electronic medical record systems.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in trauma surgery and participate in ongoing professional development activities.


Qualifications:



  • Active and unrestricted Iowa (IA) medical license is required.

  • Board certification in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care is mandatory.

  • Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) is required.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a trauma surgery setting is preferred.

  • Strong clinical judgment, decision-making skills, and a comprehensive knowledge base in trauma surgery.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients, families, and healthcare teams in a high-pressure environment.

  • Demonstrated commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality patient care.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment with on-call responsibilities.


Additional Considerations:



  • This locum tenens opportunity requires 12-hour in-house call shifts, either from 7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am.

  • The ideal candidate will have experience managing a variety of trauma cases and be comfortable with a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

  • The facility is a Level 2 trauma center, equipped to handle a range of trauma cases.
