We are seeking a dedicated Locum Tenens General Surgeon to provide ongoing support for a facility near Brooklyn, Iowa. This opportunity involves both clinic hours and surgical call coverage, with a variety of cases in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Position Details:



  • Location: Near Brooklyn, IA

  • Start Date: December 1, 2024

  • Schedule:

    • Clinic Days: Tuesday & Thursday, 9:00 AM 4:00 PM

    • Operating Room: Monday & Wednesday, 7:00 AM up to 3:00 PM, depending on volume

    • Call Coverage: 10 days of 24-hour call coverage per month



  • Patient Volume: Approximately 20-25 patients per clinic shift


Facility Requirements:



  • Practice Setting: Both inpatient and outpatient

  • Admissions Required: No

  • EMR System: MediTech / Athena

  • Privileges: Temporary privileges are available for quick onboarding

  • Board Certification: Candidates must be board-eligible, but board certification is not required


Skills & Procedures:


This position encompasses a comprehensive range of general surgery procedures, including but not limited to:



  • General Surgery: Appendectomies, cholecystectomies, and hernioplasties

  • Vascular Surgery: Peripheral vascular repairs and bypasses

  • Pediatric Procedures: Hernia repairs, abdominal wall defect repairs

  • Trauma Procedures: Thoracic, abdominal, and vascular trauma management

  • Additional Surgical Skills: Laparoscopic surgery, upper and lower GI endoscopies, minor orthopedic procedures, chest tube insertion, and ventilation management


Certification Requirements:



  • Licensure: Must hold an active IA license or qualify for an Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC)

  • Certifications: ABLS, ACLS, and BLS
