Introduction:


Embark on a rewarding locum tenens journey in the realm of Hematology/Oncology near Central City, Iowa. An outstanding opportunity awaits a dedicated provider looking to make a substantial impact in a dynamic and supportive environment. This position presents a chance to contribute to patient care, engage in crucial procedures, and enjoy a healthy work-life balance.


Position Overview:



  • Practice Setting: Immerse yourself in an engaging outpatient setting starting in Mid-February or early March.

  • Coverage Needed: At least 15-18 days per month with flexibility; a rotation of weeknight and weekend calls.

  • Work Arrangement: Open to a hybrid on-site/remote model, with a preference for on-site presence.

  • Call Rotation: Experience a reasonable 1 in 4 call rotation, promoting a manageable and balanced schedule.

  • Patient Demographics: Provide care to a diverse adult patient population, with a case mix of 50% Hematology and 50% Oncology.

  • Practice Dynamics: Collaborate with 2 radiation oncologists and 5 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).

  • Daily Caseload: Manage a reasonable caseload of 12-15 patients per day, ensuring personalized and comprehensive care.


Clinical Focus:



  • Trauma Level: Operate within a Level III trauma setting, contributing to a varied and stimulating clinical experience.

  • EMR System: Utilize the efficient Mosaiq and Cerner systems for seamless documentation and information management.

  • Procedures: Engage in critical procedures, including the management of VAD/CV Catheters and Intrathecal chemotherapy.

  • Duties: Participate in a collaborative Tumor Board, order essential tests and images, and prescribe medications as needed.

  • Chemotherapy Administration: Oversee nurse-administered chemotherapy in line with prescribed physician orders.

  • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy an exceptional work-life balance, with 5-6 call days per month, one holiday annually, at-home call availability, and a post-call day off.

  • Teaching Opportunity: Contribute to medical education by participating in the teaching of CRNA students.

Submission Requirements:

  • Certification: Board Certification or Eligibility in Hematology/Oncology or Internal Medicine with a subspecialty certification in Hematology/Oncology (ABIM or AOA) is mandatory.

  • BLS Certification: A prerequisite for application submission.

  • Iowa License: Active Iowa license is required, and IMLC candidates are also welcomed.

  • COVID Vaccine: Proof of COVID vaccination is a mandatory requirement at the time of the name clearance process.
