OB/GYN Locum Tenens Opportunity near Colorado Springs, CO (ASAP - Ongoing)


We are seeking a Board-Certified OB/GYN Physician for an exciting locum tenens opportunity near Colorado Springs, CO. This position is ideal for a highly skilled OB/GYN physician with experience in managing both low and high-risk pregnancies, as well as performing various gynecological procedures. The assignment is for 8-10 weeks with a potential start date of October 7, and emergency credentialing is available for candidates with an active CO license.


Position Details:



  • Position Type: Locum Tenens, providing OB/GYN services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

  • Assignment Duration: 8-10 weeks.

  • Start Date: ASAP, preferably by October 7.

  • Shift Type: Varied.

  • Call Requirements: 24-hour call coverage.


Schedule:



  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 24-hour hospital call; office/clinic hours 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.

  • Saturday & Sunday: 24-hour hospital call.

  • Call Schedule: 2 weekday calls per week, 1 weekend call per month.

  • In-House Call: No, on-call at the hotel with rounds as needed.


Responsibilities:



  • Manage low-risk pregnancies with patients presenting pre-existing issues such as history of twins, toxemia, hyperemesis, etc.

  • Handle high-risk pregnancies including patients with toxemia, diabetes, chronic lung problems, chronic renal disease, and more.

  • Perform and interpret OB ultrasounds, including Level I/screening ultrasounds for viability.

  • Conduct routine vaginal deliveries and C-sections, including decision-making for surgical interventions.

  • Handle complicated deliveries such as breech presentations, multiple births, and VBACs (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean).

  • Perform minor gynecological procedures such as IUD placement, cystoscopy, colposcopy, cryosurgery, and LEEP.

  • Manage surgical gynecology procedures, both minor and major, including laparoscopic diagnostics, tubal ligations, and ovarian surgeries.


Qualifications:



  • Board Certified in OB/GYN: Required (can consider residency-trained but not yet certified).

  • NRP Certified: Required.

  • Active Colorado Medical License: Highly preferred. Emergency credentialing available for candidates with an active CO license.

  • CO License: Highly preferred for emergency credentialing.


Required Procedures:



  • Management of low and high-risk pregnancies.

  • FHR interpretation (NST, CST, FSE).

  • Performance and interpretation of OB ultrasounds.

  • Routine vaginal deliveries and C-sections.

  • Handling complicated deliveries, including C-sections, breech presentations, and VBACs.

  • Minor gynecological procedures, including IUD insertion, colposcopy, and cystoscopy.

  • Surgical gynecology (both open and laparoscopic procedures).
