We are seeking a qualified OB/GYN Physician for a locum tenens position in a small rural facility near Lexington, Kentucky. This is a great opportunity to provide essential care in a close-knit community. The facility has a level one nursery, well-equipped labor rooms, and experienced staff ready to support you.


Position Details:



  • Role: OB/GYN Physician

  • Shift: 24-hour call shifts (7 AM - 7 AM)

  • Dates: October 28-31, November 22-December 6, 2024

  • Weekend Requirements: Included as part of the on-call schedule

  • On-Call Requirements: 24-hour call coverage

  • Patient Load: Approximately 18-20 deliveries per month; about 45 triage patients per month


Responsibilities:



  • Manage OB/GYN patients, including triaging those over 20 weeks gestation with OB complaints.

  • Perform both vaginal and cesarean deliveries.

  • Handle emergency GYN cases that present to the Emergency Department.

  • Provide compassionate care to patients in labor and postpartum.


Facility Information:



  • Small rural hospital with 1 triage room, 2 labor rooms, 1 C-section suite, and 6 postpartum rooms.

  • Support from anesthesia staff, certified nurse midwives, and an experienced team of labor and delivery nurses (with 5-27 years of experience).

  • Utilizes Epic EMR system.


Requirements:



  • Must be Board Certified or truly Board Eligible within 5 years of training.

  • Active Kentucky medical license required.

  • DEA and BLS/ACLS certifications are necessary.

  • Must have completed an accredited residency training program in obstetrics.

  • Clean malpractice record highly preferred.

  • Must have performed at least 100 deliveries and 50 major gynecological procedures in the past 24 months.


Credentialing Process:



  • Expected credentialing time is approximately 2 months but can be expedited to meet the start date.

  • Must demonstrate recent experience with deliveries and gynecological surgeries.
