Are you a skilled Neonatologist looking for an exciting locum tenens opportunity in Northern California? We have an urgent opening near McCloud, CA, where youll be able to deliver critical neonatal care in a well-equipped facility alongside a dedicated healthcare team.


Position Details:



  • Location: Northern California, near McCloud

  • Role: Locum Tenens Neonatologist

  • Setting: Level III NICU within a Level II Trauma Center

  • Shift Type: 24-hour on-call coverage with at least one NICU rounding session daily, responding to calls based on patient needs

  • Shift Requirements: Orientation in the afternoon prior to the start of your first shift

  • Start Date: Immediate need, covering from November 27-30 (including the Thanksgiving holiday and weekend)

  • Patient Load: NICU daily census typically ranges from 7-12 patients


Qualifications and Requirements:



  • Licensing: Active California medical license required

  • Board Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine

  • Certifications: Must have BLS, NRP, and DEA credentials

  • California Children's Services (CCS): Provider listing as a paneled member is preferred; urgent need may allow for waivers

  • Experience: Recent, relevant experience in neonatology services, not general pediatrics

  • Malpractice: Must have a clean malpractice record

  • Credentialing: Completion timeframe of approximately 30 days, with temporary privileges available for qualified candidates


Procedures Required:



  • Ventilatory assistance (ETT CPAP, nasal CPAP)

  • Administration of surfactant beyond initial dose

  • Cardiac pressors administration

  • Peripheral arterial and central line placement

  • Chest tube insertion

  • Total parenteral nutrition (TPN) administration

  • Exchange transfusion

  • Managing neonates with gestational age <32 weeks or birth weight <1600 grams


Facility Support:



  • EMR: Cerner Care B system

  • On-Site Team: Includes NICU nurses, family practice residents (teaching/supervisory role), laborists, and pediatric hospitalists
