Assignment Highlights



  • Position Type: Locum Tenens OB/GYN Physician

  • Duration: January 1, 2025 March 31, 2025

  • Schedule:

    • In-house call coverage, Monday 7 to Saturday 7

    • Call response required within 30 minutes



  • Setting: Inpatient-only care (no outpatient work required)

  • EMR System: Cerner


Role and Responsibilities



  • Patient Care: Provide comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology services, including:

    • Low and high-risk pregnancies

    • Obstetric ultrasounds and fetal heart rate interpretation

    • C-sections, vaginal deliveries, and complex cases (, breech and multiple births)

    • Minor and major gynecologic surgeries, including laparoscopic procedures and cystectomies



  • Admissions and Consults:

    • Average patient volume: 4-5 consultations and 1-2 admissions per shift

    • Deliveries: Approximately two per shift



  • Procedures:

    • Routine OB/GYN services, including IUD placement, colposcopy, cryosurgery, and LEEP

    • Capability to handle urgent and emergency procedures, including repair of 3rd and 4th degree lacerations and VBACs



  • Support and Supervision: Work alongside an established department, with no requirement to supervise residents or advanced practice providers


Facility Features and Support



  • Department: 12-bed labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum (LDRP) unit with triage facilities

  • Team and Resources: Close collaboration with community physicians to maintain care continuity for established patients

  • Temporary Privileges Available: Streamlined credentialing process (60-90 days) if no credentialing issues arise

  • Insurance Coverage: Provided by the vendor

  • Travel Accommodations: Billed separately


Qualifications and Requirements



  • Licensure: Valid Texas medical license

  • Certifications:

    • ACLS and BLS certification required



  • Board Status: Board-certified or board-eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology
