We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Medicine physician to provide essential healthcare services in a small critical access hospital near Cooper Landing, AK. Job Details:



  • Position: Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician

  • Location: Near Cooper Landing, AK

  • Duration: Starting March 2025, ongoing

  • Schedule: 7-10 days per month

  • Shift Hours: 12-hour shifts (8 to 8 or 8 to 8 )

  • On-Call Requirements: 12-hour backup call before day shifts and after night shifts; infrequent call-backs

  • Practice Setting: Single provider coverage for both the emergency department and hospital patients

  • Patient Load: Average 8 patients per shift in a 6-bed department


Requirements:



  • Board Certification: Must be board eligible or board certified in Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine (due to rural practice scope)

  • Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, and PALS required

  • Alaska License: Must have an active Alaska state medical license

  • Experience: Ability to handle emergency medicine in a rural setting without outpatient clinic duties


Additional Information:



  • No Obstetrics or Labor & Delivery Department: However, physicians must be prepared for emergency obstetric cases that may arise in the ER.

  • Support Staff: Includes 2 RNs and 1 MA per shift; no supervision of residents or advanced practice providers.

  • Facilities: Small, critical access hospital without trauma or surgical backup beyond general surgery and orthopedic surgery.
