We are seeking a highly skilled and board-certified Gastroenterologist for an exciting locum tenens opportunity near Ellensburg, WA. This position offers the chance to provide critical inpatient care as a GI Hospitalist with flexible scheduling options. The role is available immediately and will continue on an ongoing basis, making it ideal for a physician looking for a fulfilling and dynamic assignment.


Position Overview:

Responsibilities:




  • GI Hospitalist Role:



    • Provide specialized inpatient GI care, focusing on procedures and consults.

    • Manage an average of 5-8 procedures daily, including up to 5 elective outpatient procedures requiring anesthesia support.

    • Conduct 3-6 new inpatient consults per day, offering expert care and guidance for complex cases.




  • Procedural Duties:



    • Strong preference for candidates experienced in ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography).

    • Perform various GI procedures with anesthesia readily available during day shifts and weekend mornings.

    • Utilize IV conscious sedation for procedures as needed, ensuring patient comfort and safety.




  • Patient Care & Communication:



    • Communicate biopsy results directly to patients or route through the designated clinic MA.

    • Coordinate additional care steps, including referrals, follow-ups, and necessary imaging.

    • Ensure thorough documentation in the Epic EMR system, with required training provided.




Qualifications:



  • Board Certification: Must be Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Gastroenterology.

  • Fellowship: Completion of a Gastroenterology fellowship is required.

  • Licensing: Must hold an active medical license in Washington or be eligible through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC).

  • Certifications Required:

    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)



  • Hospital Privileges: Not required.

  • Temporary Privileges: Available, with an estimated credentialing timeframe of 45-60 days.


Scheduling & Coverage:




  • Flexible Scheduling:



    • Coverage is needed for 3 weeks per month, with the possibility to split between multiple Gastroenterologists.

    • Offers a choice between 24-hour coverage or 12-hour shifts, based on locum preferences.

    • Includes 8 gratis hours in the 24-hour shift rate.




  • Communication & Coordination:



    • The selected locum can engage in a conversation with the Lead GI before accepting the assignment, although it is not mandatory.
