Locum Tenens Opportunity: General Medicine Physician Near Madawaska, ME


We are seeking experienced General Medicine Physicians for an exciting locum tenens opportunity near Madawaska, ME. This ongoing, as-needed (PRN) position offers a unique chance to provide vital healthcare services to Veterans by conducting Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments. With an immediate start date, this role allows you to make a meaningful impact while maintaining flexibility in your schedule.


Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:




  • C&P Exams:



    • Conduct one-time, non-treatment Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans.

    • Perform interview-based evaluations with some physical assessments, including range of motion and muscle strength testing.

    • No prescribing or treatment is involved, allowing you to focus solely on thorough and accurate assessments.




  • Specialization Requirements:



    • Candidates from Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or those with a general medicine background are encouraged to apply.

    • Familiarity with musculoskeletal conditions, diabetes, and cardiovascular issues is required.

    • Proficiency in METs testing and the evaluation and diagnosis of respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions is a must.




Coverage Options:



  • Flexible Work Environment:

    • Two options are available: Travel to perform exams at a designated location or schedule Veterans within your own practice.

    • Flexibility to work half-days (4 hours) or full days (8 hours), depending on your availability and preferences.




Support & Training:



  • Training Provided: Comprehensive training will be provided for all Reporting/Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs).

  • Documentation:

    • Complete and submit Reporting/DBQs within 48 hours of exam completion.

    • No narrative report required; the final product is the completion of standardized forms.

    • Ongoing administrative work, including addendums, medical opinions, and diagnostic readings, will be required.




Equipment & Technology:



  • Laptop Requirement: Providers must use their own personal laptop (NO MACs).

  • Quick Credentialing: Expedited credentialing and onboarding are available to ensure you can start promptly.


Qualifications:



  • Eligible Specialties: Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or any Physician with a background in general medicine or experience with compensation and pension exams.

  • Additional Requirements:

    • Use of a Goniometer is required.

    • DMA certification is available (CME credits can be earned); certification must be obtained once privileged if not already certified.
