Locum Tenens Physician - Traumatic Brain Injury/General Medicine near Fort Wayne, IN


We are seeking a Board-Certified Physician for a locum tenens opportunity near Fort Wayne, IN. This position involves conducting a combination of General Medicine and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) exams. This role is ideal for physicians who want to work in a non-treatment capacity, providing critical evaluations for Veterans. The position is PRN, meaning it will be on an as-needed basis, with flexible scheduling options available.


Position Overview:

Responsibilities:



  • Perform a combination of General Medicine and Traumatic Brain Injury exams for Veterans.

  • Conduct non-treatment C&P (Compensation & Pension) exams and separation health assessments.

  • Exams are interview-based, with some physical assessment required (, range of motion, muscle strength testing).

  • Submit standardized Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) within 48 hours after completing each exam.

  • No prescribing and no ongoing treatment required.


Schedule:



  • PRN basis with ongoing need for coverage.

  • Flexible scheduling options:

    • Option to work half days (4 hours) or full days (8 hours).



  • Two options for coverage:

    • Travel to perform exams at designated facilities.

    • Schedule Veterans within your own practice.




Key Features:



  • No Emergency/Temp Privileges required.

  • Fast credentialing and onboarding process.

  • No narrative report writingonly standardized forms (DBQs).

  • Exams primarily focus on assessing physical abilities such as range of motion and muscle strength.

  • Use of Goniometer required for range of motion testing.

  • Familiarity with Musculoskeletal, Diabetes, and Cardio evaluations is preferred.

  • Experience with METs testing and evaluating conditions related to respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems is required.

  • Physicians must use their own personal laptop (no Macs allowed).


Requirements:



  • Must be Board Certified in one of the following specialties:

    • Neurology

    • Neurosurgery

    • PM&R (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation)



  • State License: Active Indiana license required.

  • Training on Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) will be provided.

  • Must be able to submit final DBQs within 48 hours after completing the exams.
