Locum Tenens Neurologist Needed: Diverse Practice with Teaching Opportunities near Lu Verne, Iowa (j-190962)

  • Work-Life Balance with Predictable Scheduling:
    Experience a structured schedule with two-week rotations: two weeks on (Sunday-Saturday) with 10-hour workdays, followed by two weeks off. Enjoy non-burdensome call responsibilities and evenings free for personal pursuits.




  • Inpatient and Outpatient Care:
    Gain valuable experience in a dynamic setting, managing both inpatients and outpatients. You'll spend mornings seeing new consults and rounding on admitted patients, followed by afternoon outpatient clinics.

  • Seamless Technology: Leverage your familiarity with Cerner, the EMR system used at the facility.




  • Key Responsibilities:



    • Conduct comprehensive neurological evaluations and manage a variety of neurological conditions in both inpatients and outpatients.

    • Provide stroke expertise, as stroke-like symptoms are a frequent presentation.

    • See new consults, conduct follow-up visits, and manage consults from the internal medicine and family medicine residency programs.

    • Participate in resident education and Grand Rounds, fostering a stimulating learning environment.

    • Document patient care accurately and efficiently within the Cerner EMR system.




  • Qualifications for Success:



    • Current board certification in Neurology or eligibility with board certification achievable within 3 years (BE/BO) is mandatory.

    • Valid and active medical license in the state of Iowa or an Interstate Medical License Compact (IMLC) is preferred.

    • Current certifications in BLS and ACLS (obtainable by start date) and a DEA registration (obtainable by start date) are required.

    • Comfort with stroke management and a passion for resident education are essential.

    • Experience with EEG, EMG, epilepsy, sleep studies, multiple sclerosis, and movement disorders is a plus.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients, residents, and colleagues.

    • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment is crucial.
