Locum Tenens Opportunity for Family Practice Nurse Practitioner Near Bellingham, WA


We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner with a specialization in Family Practice for a locum tenens position near Bellingham, WA. This opportunity offers full-time hours in an outpatient clinic setting, with no on-call requirement. You will be working in a fast-paced environment providing care to patients of all ages, from newborns to geriatrics. The role involves working in a community health center with a strong focus on underserved populations, including migrants and refugees.


Position Details:



  • Specialty: Family Practice

  • Location: Near Bellingham, WA

  • Schedule: ASAP - Ongoing

  • Shift: Day shift, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (40 hours per week)

  • No On-Call Requirement


Work Overview:



  • Practice Setting: Outpatient ambulatory clinic within a community health center

  • Contract Length: 3 months, with a possibility for extension

  • Patients Per Day: Up to 18 patients per day, across all age groups (newborns to geriatrics)

  • Support Staff: Each provider will have a dedicated medical assistant, along with access to receptionists, mental health therapists, dietitians, pediatricians, and administrative support.

  • Patient Population: Primarily underserved populations, including migrants and refugees. Interpretation services are available, though bilingual skills are a plus but not required.

  • EMR System: EPIC

  • Special Procedures: Includes basic family practice procedures such as injections, IUD placement, and minor wound care.


Skills & Requirements:



  • Board Certification: Required

  • WA License: Must hold an active Washington state license

  • DEA: Active WA DEA required

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with recent, face-to-face patient contact. Providers must be comfortable with fast-paced, high-volume environments.

  • Language Skills: Spanish-speaking preferred but not required

  • Experience with EMR Systems: EPIC experience is required

  • Background: Must have a clean background; no malpractice cases will be considered.

  • Travel Costs Covered: The client will cover travel expenses, including flights, rental cars or mileage, and lodging.
