Locum Tenens Opportunity: General Medicine Nurse Practitioner Near Blue Eye, MO


We are currently seeking a General Medicine Nurse Practitioner (NP) for a locum tenens position near Blue Eye, MO. This is an excellent opportunity for an NP with a background in family medicine, internal medicine, or any general medicine-related specialty. The position is available ASAP and is ongoing, offering flexibility and a chance to make a significant impact on veterans' healthcare.


Position Overview:



  • Profession: Nurse Practitioner (NP)

  • Contract Length: Ongoing

  • Shift Details:

    • Day shifts

    • Options for 4-hour half-days or 8-hour full-days

    • Flexible PRN basis




Job Responsibilities:



  • Primary Duties:

    • Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments for veterans

    • Exams are primarily interview-based with some physical assessments, including range of motion and muscle strength testing

    • No prescribing or treatment required



  • Patient Population:

    • Veterans undergoing C&P exams or Separation Health Assessments



  • Work Locations:

    • Option to travel and perform exams at VES leased facilities

    • Alternatively, schedule veterans within your own practice



  • Administrative Duties:

    • Complete Reporting/Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) within 48 hours of exam completion

    • Regular follow-up administrative work, including addendums, medical opinions, and reading diagnostics

    • Training provided for all Reporting/DBQs



  • Technology Requirements:

    • Use of personal laptop (NO MACs)

    • Familiarity with VES's provider portal for evaluations

    • Goniometer required for physical assessments




Candidate Requirements:



  • Certification:

    • AANP (American Association of Nurse Practitioners) certification required



  • Licensure:

    • Must have an active Texas state license



  • Experience:

    • Background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine

    • Familiarity with musculoskeletal, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions

    • Proficient in METs testing and diagnosing respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions



  • Additional Training:

    • DMA certification available for CME credits, if not already certified
