Locum Tenens Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Needed in Psychiatry near Junction, IA (j-235988)
Seeking a Qualified and Compassionate NP/PA to Join Our Psychiatry Team
Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) passionate about providing mental health care? We're searching for a skilled clinician to join our team in a growing community near Junction, IA. This full-time opportunity offers a flexible schedule and starts as soon as possible (ASAP), with ongoing needs to help fill a provider vacancy.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive and compassionate psychiatric care to adult and adolescent patients (ages 8 and above) within an inpatient behavioral health unit and hospital consultation setting.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, diagnose mental health conditions, and develop effective treatment plans.
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions, medication management, and crisis intervention as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, social workers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in daily call coverage on a predictable 1:4 rotation (one day of call for every four clinic days).
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within the Cerner electronic medical record system.
- Work autonomously within established protocols, seeking consultation from supervising physicians when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Active and unrestricted Iowa (IA) license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- Board certification in Psychiatry is mandatory.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical setting providing mental health care to adults and/or adolescents is preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment, decision-making skills, and a comprehensive knowledge base in psychiatry.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Additional Considerations:
- This opportunity offers a full-time schedule with a consistent Monday-Friday clinic schedule (8:00 am - 5:00 pm), including one hour for an unpaid lunch break.
- You will be collaborating with a supportive team of two other NPs/PAs in the practice and one additional PA in the Emergency Department (ER).
- Experience working in a Level III Trauma Center environment is a plus.
