Seeking a Qualified and Experienced Cardiovascular Surgery PA to Join Our Team


Are you a dedicated and highly skilled Physician Assistant (PA) with a passion for cardiovascular surgery? We're searching for a qualified clinician to join our team in a growing community near Smithville Flats, NY. This ongoing opportunity offers a flexible schedule starting as soon as possible (ASAP) and is ideal for experienced PAs seeking a locum tenens position.


Responsibilities:



  • Deliver comprehensive preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care to adult patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery within a Level II Trauma Center.

  • Conduct thorough patient histories, perform physical examinations, diagnose surgical needs, and develop effective care plans.

  • Assist surgeons in the operating room with a variety of cardiovascular procedures, including first assist duties.

  • Manage invasive lines, chest tubes, and other critical aspects of patient care.

  • Round on patients in the inpatient setting, monitoring their progress and addressing any postoperative concerns.

  • Collaborate effectively with nurses, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

  • Participate in a rotating call schedule, including weekend and evening call coverage.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within the Epic electronic medical record system.


Qualifications:



  • Active and unrestricted New York (NY) license to practice medicine as a Physician Assistant at the time of application.

  • National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification is mandatory.

  • Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.

  • Minimum of two years of experience working in a cardiovascular surgery setting is preferred (new graduates not eligible).

  • Strong clinical judgment, decision-making skills, and a comprehensive knowledge base in cardiovascular surgery.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients, families, and healthcare teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality patient care throughout the surgical continuum.

  • This opportunity offers a flexible locum tenens schedule with a mix of varied shifts and rotating call coverage (weekends and evenings).

  • You will be working within a supportive team environment in a Level II Trauma Center utilizing Epic EMR technology.

  • The average patient volume is 8-10 patients per day, with a focus on inpatient care.
