General Nature/Purpose of Work:<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
This position manages the day-to-day clinical, operational and educational activities of the on-site clinic.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities/Clinical:
§ Provide on-site services forty (40) hours per week at the clinic.
§ Triage and treat, as appropriate, minor work related and non-work related injuries and illnesses.
§ Dispense over the counter and prescription medications in accordance with pre-established standing orders to employees with minor work-related and non-work related concerns (back pain, headache, URI).
§ Perform urine drug screening and breath alcohol testing in accordance with company protocol.
§ Provide support and case management for both work-related and non-work related conditions for the purposes of reducing illness and absenteeism.
§ Coordinate second opinions for employees absent due to workers= compensation or disability, as necessary in adherence with company protocols.
§ Provide referrals for employees who need the attention of a primary care physician or specialist in adherence with company protocols.
§ Perform on-site physical assessments (pre-placement, DOT, return to work, fitness for duty) as required and in accordance with established medical guidelines.
§ Provide crisis management/intervention, as needed.
§ Obtain Game Ready equipment for therapy and implement use within the clinic.
§ Provide instruction to employees for the rehabilitation of occupational injuries utilizing stretching and strengthening exercises.
§ Perform pre-placement ergonomic assessments in accordance wit testing procedures.
§ Travel to satellite clinics as requested by to conduct DOT exams and substance abuse testing.
- Create an environment of trust and caring which allows employees to feel comfortable in seeking professional unbiased medical care at the on-site clinic.
- Primary Duties and Responsibilities/Wellness / Health Promotion:
§ Coordinate and plan health education seminars and general wellness events.
§ Assist in the coordination of annual Health Fair.
§ Create and prepare health education materials in accordance with national health observances calendar.
§ Develop, implement and oversee stretching programs for employees.
§ Advise employees on proper body mechanisms and use of equipment.
§ Participate in annual Flu Shot program at on-site clinic and 5-10 satellite clinics as requested.
§ Develop and implement health education promotion activities for 5-10 satellite clinics as requested.
- Primary Duties and Responsibilities/Administrative:
§ Provide general medical advice to the Human Resources and Safety/Risk Management Departments.
§ Ensure the provision of prompt, appropriate clinical care to all patients in accordance with State regulations and professional standards.
§ Develop and maintain relationships with clinical providers in the community to provide back-up clinical and specialty care.
§ Ensure timely and appropriate problem resolution and follow-up to employees as required.
§ Ensure all patients receive prompt, courteous, friendly and professional attention to their needs and requests.
§ Ensure clinical facilities are neat, clean, attractive and welcoming to patients.
§ Participation and presentations as appropriate in routine meetings, including but not limited to:
o Weekly safety meetings
o Weekly workers’ compensation meetings
o Monthly HR meetings
o Monthly wellness committee meetings
§ Assist in the creation of the annual clinic budget.
§ Provide budget reports on the clinic expenses in accordance with the Period Calendar (13 periods/calendar year).
§ Provide Period Reports detailing clinic activities, utilization and success stories in accordance with Period Calendar (13 periods/calendar year).
§ Provide weekly flu shot administration reports detailed by location, employee and spouse from October 1st through March 1st.
Education and Experience
1. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner/Physician Asst. Program.
2. Licensed by the Virginia Board of Nursing/Board of Physician Quality Assurance
3. Minimum twelve months related experience (Adult Medicine).
4. National certification through AANP, ANCC or NCCPA.
5. Prefer experience in an occupational setting.
Special Skills/Knowledge:
# Analytical ability necessary to evaluate and determine health status of patient and implement proper care;
# Interpersonal skills necessary to interview, teach and counsel patients and interact with clients/employers;
# A comprehensive understanding of outpatient adult medicine, patient care procedures, medical protocols, testing procedures is necessary;
# Interpersonal skills to interact with managers and executives in a business meeting;
# Presentation skills for health education topics; and
# Computer skills to include use of Excel, Word and Power Point software programs.
