Retina Specialist Physician Opportunity near LONG ISLAND CITY, NY


We are currently looking for a skilled physician specializing in ophthalmology with a focus on medical and/or surgical retina to join our team in providing exceptional patient care. This is a permanent position, and we welcome applications from both experienced individuals with 2 years or more of experience and newly trained retina fellows.

Responsibilities:



  • Review patient medical history, reports, and examination results.

  • Conduct retinal examinations and interpret various tests (OCT, photos, fluorescein angiograms, etc.).

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment for a variety of vitro-retinal conditions.

  • Perform office-based procedures, including intravitreal injections, photocoagulation, and laser procedures.

  • For surgical retinal specialists, conduct weekly outpatient surgical procedures such as vitrectomy, scleral buckling, membrane peeling, and macular hole repair.

  • Prescribe medications and develop ongoing treatment plans.

  • Collaborate with primary care providers, internal and external optometrists and ophthalmologists.

  • Provide relationship-centered care, considering psychosocial and physical patient needs.

  • Maintain accurate medical records.

  • Communicate effectively with the clinical team.


Qualifications:



  • Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or foreign equivalent.

  • Completion of a three-year postgraduate medical training program in ophthalmology from a accredited residency.

  • Completion of a medical or medical-surgical retina fellowship, preferably registered with AUPO-FCC.

  • Board Eligible/Board Certified in Ophthalmology.

  • Current, unrestricted New York State license or eligibility for licensure.

  • Active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration or eligibility.

  • Active Medicare/Medicaid Enrollment or eligibility.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred.

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Comfortable with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and Microsoft Office.
