Locum Tenens Opportunity: Pathology Physician Near Fowler, MI


We are currently seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Pathology Physician for a locum tenens position near Fowler, MI. This opportunity is ideal for a skilled pathologist looking to work in a hospital-based setting, providing essential diagnostic services while collaborating with a dedicated medical team. This position offers a stable, ongoing assignment with the possibility of extension as the facility seeks to recruit a permanent provider.


Position Overview:

  • Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM


Work Details:



  • Practice Setting: Hospital-based Pathology Lab

  • Call Schedule:

    • Weekly, alternating weeks

    • Starts Friday at 5:00 PM and ends the following Friday at 8:00 AM

    • Nights/weekend rotation is required



  • Volume: Approximately 35-50 cases read per day, with the workload split between two pathologists

  • Certification: CLIA certification held by the laboratory

  • Case Types: Broad spectrum of pathology cases, requiring a well-rounded pathologist with experience in both common and complex diagnostic work


Requirements:



  • Board Certification: Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pathology

  • State License: Must hold an active Michigan medical license or be eligible to obtain one

  • Emergency/Temp Privileges: Not available; standard credentialing process applies

  • Experience: Proven experience in a hospital-based pathology setting is preferred


Additional Information:



  • Call Ratio: Every other week, covering nights and weekends

  • Credentialing Timeframe: Standard timeframe applies; however, candidates must be ready to start as soon as September 30th

  • Onboarding: Comprehensive orientation will be provided, along with support from the medical team to ensure a smooth transition into the role
